Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence
Choral, SATB, optional handbell Liturgy of St. James, paraphrased and translated by Gerard Moultrie (1864)
Based on the liturgy of St. James, Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence is one of the earliest Christian hymns still being sung. Many arrangements exist of this hymn. This arrangement was created specifically for the St. Barnabas Episcopal Parish Choir in Denver, Colorado.
The arrangement uses a single handbell. The tolling of the bell begins the piece and is repeated several times throughout the work. The majority of the work is sung unaccompanied, and if a D handbell is not available, it may be omitted.
