Child Survivor for flute, piano, and viola: MLD - SC01

Child Survivor depicts the emotional struggle of a survivor of childhood trauma. Children are amazing, resilient creatures who seek to find beauty and joy even in the face of sorrow, anguish, or suffering. After the introduction, the A section depicts a frantic period where the child grapples to deal with overwhelming acute trauma. Section B is a search for the joys of childhood. The constant meter changes represent the uncertainty that underlies the journey. Finally in section C, the child learns to experience joy and beauty in spite of the price of an innocence lost.
